Health consultative nursing is an independent role of all nurses who can provide health advice and knowledge to the public or health service recipients related to their individual work or provide referral advice in cases where the consultant does not have expertise in that area and help service recipients to access services that match their symptoms or necessary health patterns in both government and private service institutions
Providing health counseling is one of the roles of nurses under the Nursing and Midwifery Profession Act of Thailand in 1985 and the amendment to the Nursing and Midwiferey Profession Act No. 2 in 2007 states the meaning of the nursing profession as follows that is the performance of nursing duties towards individual, families and communities, such actions include teaching, advising, consulting, and solving problems regarding health and hygiene, actions towards the body and mind of individuals, and creating an evironment for problem solving illness, disease progression, and rehabilitation, performing prescribed procedures for primary care and immunization, including assisting physicians in treating diseases. Therefore, providing health consultation is considered a responsibility of individuals in the nursing or heath team who must jointly take resposibility for their duties and learn about building relationships. In addition, providing health conslutation to patients/service reciepietns is necessary for all professional nurses to learn the principles, techniques or skills used in order to apply them in nursing service reciepients/patients who have physical, mental, social and spiritual health problems with service recipients.
